24"(61cm) x 24"(61cm) oil on panel. This piece, painted in late 2012, is from a local roundup in Bozeman for southwest Montana ranchers. I was standing by the fence when this cowboy rode up to capture his target for the team event. My hope was to illustrate how focused he was on his prize. This painting was chosen as one of the pieces exhibited in the "Off the Wall" Auction.

27"(68.6cm) x 20"(50.8cm) Oil on Panel. This piece, painted in early summer of 2012, is from a 2010 Bozeman Roundup. This cowboy was getting his rope situated while waiting for his team to be ready for their event. My hope is that I was able to capture the timeless elements of the western icon in this roper's pose.

Artist Bio:The characters I paint are the colorful players in a uniquely American story. They tell the tale of the west as I learned about it growing up in mid-century America in the southwest, and as I still experience it from my home in Montana. With the painting of each of these timeless images - the working cowboy, the American Indian, the first Spanish settlers - I am celebrating a connection to the romance of the west that has captivated so many generations.
