From August to October, the Whitebark Pine is an important high-fat food source for many grizzlies. The cones of these trees do not drop their seeds for one year after they have fallen. During this time, the cones and seeds are rounded up and hoarded by red squirrels. The Lord of the forest, the Grizzly Bear, can be found in these remote locations robbing this tasty snack for his own use before hibernation.
